#SoCaltech: Shubh Agrawal
“Study Abroad Day usually focuses on American students who get to study abroad, but there’s another interpretation of ‘student abroad’ and that’s people coming to America. But regardless of how you look at it, the experience of coming to a new place and culture offers a unique experience compared to studying at home. You get to know very different people and their backgrounds intimately. I have been able to live with and talk to people from many different parts of the United States and of the UK and it has opened my eyes to new ways to think about important issues, politics, and the problems that our societies face. Studying abroad also makes you more independent. You grow a lot when you travel—and it’s really fun.”
Shubh Agrawal, a senior from India studying computer science, spoke at a Study Abroad Day event on campus in February. He has spent his undergraduate career at Caltech, except for the Fall 2021 academic term at Cambridge University’s Corpus Christi College when he took classes with the department of physics and the department of astronomy.
